There are always statistics gathered in regards to sleep disorders as well. For example, did you know that roughly 70 million people in the US suffer from the sleep disorder insomnia? That is a staggering statistic if you think in terms of the entire US population.

What about sleep apnea? That number stands at just under 45 million. That is also a staggering statistic. In a changing world, the sleep industry and its companies have their work cut out for them in regards to CPAP devices and finding ways to help people of all ages who suffer from both sleep apnea and insomnia.

Think in terms of the rise of obesity rates, too. Have you had your fill of sleep-industry information yet? Some of the stats aren’t fun to digest to be sure. Let’s talk about the size of the sleep industry. That is another eye-popping stat.

A couple of years ago, the market for the sleep industry was estimated to be at just under $29 billion dollars. Forecasters predict that it will grow by almost 5 percent each year for the next five years. Part of that is due to an increase in population, but the rest is ascribed to the importance of sleep and the ever changing landscape of sleep disorders.

Here is another interesting fact. More and more people are shunning prescription sleep aids and counting on generic over the counter meds instead. That is actually a good thing, considering prescription strength medications can have even more side effects and perhaps be even more addictive.

It would be great if we could all get our sleep without having to worry about disorders and medications. But the fact of the matter is, in this world, the number of people dealing that fit that category is on the rise. Do you suffer from a sleep disorder? Do you take any medications?

What about sleep labs and sleep studies? Did you know that there are around 5,000 labs in the US? And when it comes to sleep-industry information, it was mentioned the market is valued at nearly $30 billion. Did you know that the mattress market alone is valued at nearly $16 billion?

That tells you right there that people are really paying attention to the type of mattresses they count on for sleep. I know I do. The last mattress I bought was my first memory foam mattress. What type of mattress do you sleep on at night?

Aside from inflation, do you find yourself spending or investing more in your sleep these days? Many people are for sure, in an effort to stay rested and ready to go each and every day. You can bet the sleep industry news for 2020 is going to have some wow factors as well.
